Day 22 – Think About What You’re Thinking About
“…whatsoever things are true…honest,…just…pure…lovely…of good report…if there be any virtue…praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8
When you are stretching your faith for God to do extraordinary things in your life, you can’t afford to allow your thoughts to wander aimlessly. You must be deliberate in your l thought life. In other words you must “think about what you are thinking about.”
Thoughts will eventually shape our lives. Our lives reflect the culmination of our thoughts because the Bible says: “for as he thinks in his heart, so is he” (Prov. 23:7). You are what you think your are. You can do what you think you can do. You can have what you think you can have. You can be who you think you can be. The opposite also true if you think you can’t.
You can not allow yourself to tolerate thoughts of doubt, fear, unbelief, defeat, sickness, etc. You must “cast down” those negative thoughts. If you are going to have God’s best for your life, you must elevate your thoughts to agree with what God’s word says about you and your circumstances, not what the devil and your circumstances say.
Finally, Jesus said “take no thoughts saying, what shall we eat?…drink?…” (Matt. 6:31). So, if you practice not verbalizing negative thoughts, those thoughts will be aborted and die unborn. You must “think about what you are thinking about.”
Faith Stretching Exercises:
1. Practice casting down negative thoughts by speaking the exact opposite of every negative thought that comes into your mind (2 Cor. 10:4-5).
2. Start declaring: “I have the mind of Christ, so I think Jesus’ thoughts“ (1 Cor. 2:16).
3. Read the word of God everyday so that you “renew your mind” to think in line with God’s word. (Rom. 12:2, Eph. 4:23)
