Day 26 – Maintain Your Integrity
“…and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedest me against him, to destroy him without cause.” Job 2:3
I define integrity as “doing right, because it’s right whether or not anyone ever knows that you did right.” When you are under pressure and things aren’t going the way you want them to go, it can be hard to “maintain your integrity.” Yet, that’s exactly what Job did. Despite attacks against his family, his business and all that he had, he continued to glorify God and did not “charge God foolishly” (Job 1:22).
Maintaining your integrity means continuing to talk right and do right while you are waiting for your change. You demonstrate your integrity by being consistent while you are waiting – consistent in your confession, consistent in your praise, consistent in your church attendance, and even consistent in your giving. Keep doing the right thing because it’s the right thing to do.
Maintaining your integrity also means keeping the right attitude. Job had every reason to have a nasty disposition. He could have gotten angry at God and said “I don’t deserve this! What have I done? Why are you doing this to me.” Even Job’s wife was shocked that he continued to praise and glorify God despite his situation. She asked him: “Are you still trying to maintain your integrity? Curse God and die” (Job 2:9).
I know that the way of faith can sometimes seem long, tedious, and even frustrating but don’t let the devil see you sweat. Maintain your integrity. Keep on believing! Are you a believer or a doubter? Are you a finisher or a quitter? Are you a winner or a loser? Are you a victor or a victim? Who you really are shows up when the pressure in on. For a real man or woman of faith, trials don’t change who we are, they prove who we are. Allow your integrity to uphold, preserve, and keep you until your manifestation comes.
