Day 21 – “I’ve Got Your Back”

“…Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Matt. 18:18

When I was a child, growing up in “Duncan Projects” in Jersey City, NJ., fights were a common occurrence. However, I did not like to fight. One day Paul took my marbles from me and I went upstairs to our apartment crying. When I told my older sister what happened she took me back outside and told me that I was to get my marbles back from Paul. I told her that I would have to fight him for them to which she reassured me to not worry saying: “I’ve got your back.” As I was fighting Paul for my marbles, we ended up rolling and punching on the ground, every time Paul rolled me over, she would flip me over to put me back on top. I eventually won and got my marbles back from Paul because my sister “had my back.”

Stop letting the devil take your marbles from you. Jesus gave us assurance that if we would operate in faith and take our authority, he has our back. The New Living Translation of Matthew 18:18 says: “…whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.” Jesus reassures us that when we speak words of faith and use the power of our faith-filled words to bind the negative and loose the positive, “I’ve got your back.”

Notice that Jesus didn’t say that He would do the binding and loosing first. We must initiate the activity, then He will back us up and reinforce our words because He “has our back.” In The Lord’s Prayer, Jesus told us to declare “thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” (Matt. 6:10). There is no lack, sickness, disease, confusion, divorce or any other negative thing that we can think of in heaven. Therefore, we must use our authority to “bind” these things on earth knowing that Jesus has our back. On the other hand, there is joy, peace, unity, dancing, rejoicing, health, etc. in heaven. So, we must declare and “loose” these things in earth because Jesus has our back.

Faith Stretching Exercises:
1. Write down at least three things that you want bound in your life.
2. Write down at least three things that you want loosed in your life.
3. Now go again and use your voice and declare, “ I bind _________ and I loose __________ in my life, in the name of Jesus!”
