Day 25 – Don’t Count Me Out
“…we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.” Hebrews 10:39
On a recent New Year’s Day, I was watching the South Carolina Gamecocks play in the Outback Bowl game against the Michigan Wolverines. As a SC Gamecocks fan, I was hopeful that we would win the game to redeem ourselves from a mediocre season. As the game entered the 3rd quarter, SC was losing 16 to 3. I decided to change the channel and ended up taking a nap rather than watch my team go down in defeat. Later that day, my son came to the house and asked if I had seen the game. I told him that I stopped watching it because we were losing badly. He said “well SC game back and won 26 to 19. I couldn’t believe it. But that’s the point, because I didn’t believe SC had a chance to win, I counted them out.
Faith never counts itself out, quits or draws back. “It ain’t over until God says it’s over.” If God said that it was over then you wouldn’t be reading this faith stretching devotion now. The very fact that you are still here to read, study, pray, confess, declare and believe means that “it’s not over.” So tell the devil, all of your doubters and naysayers: “Don’t count me out.”
In the game that I mentioned above, the SC Gamecocks didn’t start winning the game until the 4th quarter. Perhaps there were others like me who stopped watching the game and had left the stadium but at the end of the day, they weren’t the players on the field. Even if others give up on you, lose faith in you and count you out, never count yourself out. Keep playing your game and keep running your race. It matters little what other say about you, believe of you or even believe about you. “The just shall live by his faith” (Habakkuk 2:4). So, don’t count yourself out. Keep believing in hope even when hope seems gone. I believe with you for a miraculous turnaround in your situation!
Faith Stretching Exercise:
Read and meditate on the following scriptures:
1. Psalms 27:13 – “Believe to see…”.
2. Romans 4:16-18 – “Believe in hope”.
3. Acts 27:23-25 – “Believe God, that it shall be” as you were told.
