What We Believe

Doctrinal Statement & Beliefs

Right Direction Church International is a “non-denominational,” Bible-believing, Bible-teaching, Christian church. “Non-denominational,” simply means that we are not affiliated with any particular church denomination (e.g. Southern Baptist, A.M.E., or C.O.G.I.C., etc.)  However, we are “Pentecostal” to the degree that we embrace the Pentecostal experience of Acts 2:4, 10:44, and 19:6 and “Charismatic” to the degree that we believe the gifts of the Spirit as explained in I Cor. 12:1-11 are relevant for the body of Christ today and have not ceased to operate in the church.

RDCI is in covenant affiliation with Bishop T.D. Jakes and The Potters House of Dallas, TX.

Statement of Beliefs:

We believe that the Holy Bible is the written, inspired Word of God.  We believe in one God who created all things and is revealed in the persons of God the Father,  the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  We believe that God came to earth in the flesh in the person of His son, Jesus Christ (the Anointed One), who was born of a virgin, lived and walked on earth, healing all manner of sickness and disease, and destroying the works of the devil.  We believe that Jesus Christ was crucified on a cross, died for our sins, and was raised bodily on the third day in fulfillment of the scriptures.  We believe that He then ascended into heaven and now sits at the right hand of God making intercession for us and that He is the only Mediator between God and mankind.  We believe that Jesus Christ will return again to resurrect the dead in Christ and rapture those who have accepted Him as Lord and Savior to live with Him eternally.

We further believe…

Water Baptism by immersion in water as instructed by our Lord Jesus Christ as a symbol of identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Water Baptism is “an outward sign of an inward work.”  Therefore, one should be baptized after one has confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  For the purpose

of promoting unity in the body and not getting caught up in disputes or debates about baptism, we baptize in the name of “the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost in Jesus’ name.” (Matt. 28:19; Acts 8:36-38; Rom. 6:3-4; Col. 2:12; Col. 3:17).

Baptism in the Holy Spirit, often referred to as “being filled with the Holy Ghost,” or “Spirit Baptism” is a promise from God which is available to all Christians subsequent to their confession of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and their new birth.  This experience is evidenced by speaking in tongues as the Holy Spirit gives utterance.  Speaking in tongues is an initial evidence (but not the only evidence) of the Holy Spirit’s indwelling of a Christian. One does not have to “tarry”  for the Holy Spirit as the early disciples did in Jerusalem because the Holy Spirit is now present in the earth realm to fill anyone who accepts Jesus Christ and asks Him to take up residence in them.  The Holy Spirit will also enable the believer to pray in a new (heavenly) prayer language.  (Matt. 3:11; John 14:16-17; Acts 1:8, 2:38-39, 10:44-47, 19:1-7; I Cor. 1:7, 14:2-4, 14-15; I Cor. 2:6).

Divine Healing and Miracles – We believe that God still heals naturally but also supernaturally.  Therefore, we neither condemn nor discourage the practice of medicine by medical professionals or their use by Christians.  However, we also believe that manifestations of healing can also come supernaturally by the power of God through the prayer of faith and/or by the laying on of hands.  Divine healing by the power of God was provided by Jesus Christ in His death and atonement on the cross.  God still works miracles and you don’t have to stay sick.  (Mark 16:18; James 5:14,15; I Peter 2:24; Matt. 8:17; Isaiah 53:4,5)
